Waitatavi Bay Beach Resort Fiji
Waitatavi Bay Beach Resort Fiji is a master planned, eco-friendly, executive housing and boutique resort. This project is nestled on a crescent moon shaped, white sand beach and deep water bay. It is a true integration of master site planning, understanding and preserving the unique site characteristics and the introduction of green and eco-friendly technologies and management. These eco-friendly technologies and management include the use of photovoltaic panels, reclaimed water, local materials and local labor, as well as the education and training of local staff. The architecture retains the flavor of the native Fijian culture while taking advantage of natural ventilation, open design features. Special attention is paid to historical Fijian detailing and materials. The project also includes the restoration, preservation and management of the adjoining rainforest, ocean and reef. Mr. Maston has worked directly with the local and national government to secure the immediate ocean, Waitatavi Bay, as a national marine/reef preserve. Mr. Maston and his daughter Nicole are actively involved in an annual marine biology camp for both Fijian and international teachers and students for the benefit of the marine preserve. This project is only accessible by boat or sea plane and is completely off the grid. Beginning phases of the project are currently under way.
